The Xe₂ Excimer Lamp (xenon dimer excimer lamp) is an advanced ultraviolet (UV) light source that operates based on excimer emission technology, where excited xenon molecules (Xe₂*) are formed under electrical discharge conditions. Unlike conventional lamps that rely on filament heating or broad-spectrum plasma emission, the Xe₂ excimer lamp produces nearly monochromatic ultraviolet radiation

The working principle of the Xe₂ excimer lamp is based on the formation of unstable excited dimers. When high-energy electrons collide with xenon atoms, they create excited states that temporarily bond with another xenon atom, forming an excimer molecule (Xe₂*). This molecule exists only in an excited state and rapidly dissociates back into two ground-state xenon atoms, releasing photon energy in the process.
